Mr. Per Bakken, Head, Chemicals Branch, UNEP Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (UNEP Chemicals), welcomed participants to the meeting and expressed thanks to the Governments of Finland, Germany, Norway and Sweden and to the European Commission for the funding which they had provided for the meeting, and the Governments of Canada, France and Switzerland for their support for the intergovernmental negotiation process.
