The Secretariat has participated in several national workshops related to the implementation of the Basel Convention, namely:

OECD and SBC have a memorandum of understanding confirming cooperation in data and information exchange relating to the implementation of the Basel Convention.
وتوجد مذكرة تفاهم بين منظمة التعاون والتنمية في الميدان الاقتصادي وأمانة اتفاقية بازل، وهي تؤكد على التعاون في مجال تبادل البيانات والمعلومات المتعلقة بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل.

Also invites Parties to inform the Secretariat of their capacitybuilding activities and awareness and educational materials related to the implementation of the Basel Convention, to enable it to disseminate such information to other Parties and stakeholders;

2. To enhance efforts to explore and pursue opportunities for activities associated with implementation of the Convention to be funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), consistent with the GEF mandate, focal area operational programmes and strategic priorities.
2 - تعزيز الجهود الرامية إلى استكشاف ومواصلة الفرص لأنشطة مرتبطة بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل ويمولها مرفق البيئة العالمية، بما يتسق مع ولاية المرفق، وبرامج تشغيلية وأولويات استراتيجية لمناطق التركيز.

5. Also invites Parties to inform the Secretariat of their capacitybuilding activities and awareness and educational materials related to the implementation of the Basel Convention, to enable it to disseminate such information to other Parties and stakeholders;
5 - كما يدعو الأطراف إلى إبلاغ الأمانة بأنشطة بناء القدرات الخاصة بها ومواد التوعية والتثقيف المتصلة بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل لتمكينها من نشر هذه المعلومات على الآخرين من الأطراف وأصحاب المصلحة؛

The Secretariat also provided advice and assistance to 10 parties on matters related to the implementation of the Basel Convention, the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade and the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
وقدمت الاتفاقية المشورة أيضاً لعشرة أطراف بشأن مسائل تتصل بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل واتفاقية روتردام المتعلقة بتطبيق إجراء الموافقة المسبقة عن علم على مواد كيميائية ومبيدات آفات معينة خطرة متداولة في التجارة الدولية واتفاقية استكهولم بشأن الملوثات العضوية الثابتة.

2. Encourages Parties and other stakeholders to contribute financially and with other means to activities concerning the implementation of the Basel Convention in Africa as prioritized in the Action Plan of the Environment Initiative of the New Partnership for Africa's Development;
2 - يشجع الأطراف وغيرها من أصحاب المصلحة على الإسهام مالياً وبواسطة سبل أخرى في الأنشطة المتعلقة بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل في أفريقيا حسب الأولوية التي أسندت لها في خطة عمل المبادرة البيئية للشراكة الجديدة لتنمية أفريقيا؛

The Secretariat has worked closely with several partners, in particular the Basel Convention regional centres, the Parties, several United Nations bodies and other international agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organizations for the preparation and implementation of capacity-building and training activities linked to the implementation of the Basel Convention.

The Basel Convention centres were set up to deliver training, technology transfer, information, consulting and awareness-raising activities on matters relevant to the implementation of the Basel Convention and to the environmentally sound management of hazardous and other wastes in the countries they serve.
13 - لقد أنشئت مراكز اتفاقية بازل لتتولى أنشطة التدريب ونقل التكنولوجيا والمعلومات والتشاور واستثارة الوعي بالمسائل ذات الصلة بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل وتحقيق الإدارة السليمة بيئياً للنفايات الخطرة وغيرها من النفايات في البلدان التي تقدم لها الخدمات.

(d) Accurate and timely responses to queries from Parties, signatories and others on scientific and technical matters pertaining to the implementation of the Basel Convention.

From the morning session on Friday, 8 May, until the end of the afternoon session on Monday, 11 May, the Conference of the Parties would consider matters related to the implementation of the Basel Convention (item 4 of the provisional agenda), which cover the main substantive issues under the Convention, and other matters specific to the Basel Convention (item 7 of the provisional agenda).
42 - وابتداءً من الجلسة الصباحية يوم الجمعة، 8 أيار/مايو، وحتى نهاية جلسة بعد ظهر يوم الاثنين، 11 أيار/مايو، سينظر مؤتمر الأطراف في المسائل المتعلقة بتنفيذ اتفاقية بازل (البند 4 من جدول الأعمال المؤقت)، تشمل المسائل الفنية الرئيسية في إطار الاتفاقية، والمسائل الأخرى الخاصة باتفاقية بازل (البند 7 من جدول الأعمال المؤقت).

Speaking on behalf of herself and her Co-Chair, Mr. Prakash Kowlesser (Mauritius), she observed that the role of the Working Group was to assist the Conference of the Parties in developing and keeping under review the operational policies and decisions adopted by the Conference of the Parties on policy, technical, scientific, legal and institutional matters related to the implementation of the Basel Convention.
