In Afghanistan, following the evaluation of three main projects on criminal justice reform, penal reform and juvenile justice reform, follow-up projects were developed.

(a) Two faculty members visited Costa Rica from 2 to 12 August and hosted, with the Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, an international course on criminal justice reform in Latin America.
(أ) زار اثنان من أعضاء هيئة التدريس كوستاريكا في الفترة من 2 إلى 12 آب/أغسطس، وتشاركا مع معهد أمريكا اللاتينية لمنع الجريمة ومعاملة المجرمين في تنظيم دورة دراسية دولية بشأن إصلاح العدالة الجنائية في أمريكا اللاتينية.

Effective support for technical assistance projects is provided in the following areas: field office guides on subjects such as children in conflict with the law, penal reform and victim support; training tools in the area of HIV/AIDS in prisons; a guide on effective responses to violence against women; a handbook on restorative justice and alternatives to imprisonment; and an assessment guide on criminal justice reform in transitional societies.

The Institute held the fifth special training course on corruption control in criminal justice (para. 16), the seventh special seminar for senior criminal justice officials of China on criminal justice reform (paras. 3 and 4), the third special training course on juvenile delinquent treatment systems in Kenya (para. 24) and the first seminar on the justice system for Tajik officials (paras. 3 and 4);
