5. By its resolution 1998/46 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields, the Council:

In section II, paragraph 8, of resolution 50/214, the General Assembly, requested the Secretary-General to make proposals to the Assembly as soon as possible, and no later than the fifty-first session, on further measures to improve efficiency, contain administrative costs and achieve savings in the Organization with a view to enhancing programme delivery and the implementation of all programmes and activities mandated by the Assembly.
٦ - وفي الفقرة ٨ من الجزء الثاني من القرار ٥٠/٢١٤، طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم إلى الجمعية العامة في أقرب وقت ممكن، على ألا يتجاوز ذلك الدورة الحادية والخمسين، اقتراحات بشأن اتخاذ تدابير أخرى لتحسين الكفاءة، واستيعاب التكاليف اﻹدارية وتحقيق وفورات في المنظمة، وذلك للنهوض بإنجاز البرامج وتنفيذ جميع البرامج واﻷنشطة التي أذنت بها الجمعية العامة.
