The Workshop on Strategies and Best Practices for Crime Prevention highlighted the strengths of crime prevention and noted that a major part of the international effort must lie with national and local authorities and communities in preventing the spread of everyday crime and violence.

The proceedings of Workshop 3 of the Eleventh United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, on Strategies and Best practices for crime prevention, in particular in relation to urban crime and youth at risk were published by the Centre in English, French and Spanish, and launched at a press conference with UNODC and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UNHABITAT).
