Background: The SBSTA, at its twentieth session, requested the secretariat to organize in early 2005 a seminar on the development and transfer of technologies for adaptation to climate change, taking into consideration terms of reference prepared by the Expert Group on Technology Transfer (EGTT) at its sixth meeting, and to report on the findings of this seminar to the SBSTA.

At its 8th plenary meeting, on 19 July, the Conference of the Parties, on the recommendation of the SBSTA and the SBI, adopted decision 7/CP.2 on development and transfer of technologies.
