On that occasion, the Council decided to request the United Nations Special Mission in Afghanistan to express to the parties to the conflict its concern at the intensification of the fighting and the lack of political progress in resolving the conflict and its support for the efforts of the Secretary-General and his Special Envoy.
وفي تــلك المناســبة قرر المجلس أن يطلب إلى بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة الخاصة في أفغانستان أن تُعرب ﻷطراف النزاع عن قلقه إزاء تكثيف القتال وعدم إحراز تقدم سياسي في حل الــنزاع، وعن تأييده للجهــود التي يبذلها اﻷمـين العام ومبعوثه الخاص.

The General Assembly is considering the extension of the United Nations Special Mission to Afghanistan (UNSMA) for 2000, pursuant to draft resolution A/54/L.58.

We condemn the recent attack against two staff members of the United Nations Special Mission to Afghanistan (UNSMA) and the killing of Iranian diplomats in northern Afghanistan, and we demand an urgent investigation into these atrocious acts.
كما ندين الهجوميـن اﻷخيرين على اثنين من موظفي بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة الخاصة في أفغانستان وقتل الدبلوماسيين اﻹيرانيين في شمال أفغانستان، ونطالب بإجراء تحقيق عاجل في هذه الأعمال الفظيعة.

We hope that the convergence of ideas witnessed at the conference can help the United Nations Special Mission to Afghanistan to convince the parties that the way out of this crisis can be only through political dialogue.

17. As indicated in the Secretary-General’s statement, the United Nations Special Mission to Afghanistan would continue its primary role in conducting United Nations peacemaking activities in Afghanistan.
١٧ - وأضاف قائلا إن بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة الخاصة في أفغانستان ستواصل على النحو المذكور في بيان الأمين العام تأدية دورها اﻷساسي في الاضطلاع بأنشطة اﻷمم المتحدة لإحلال السلام في أفغانستان.

9. Earnestly expects that the United Nations Special Mission to Afghanistan would promptly verify and clearly report to the Secretary-General and the Security Council on the presence of foreign mercenaries and of foreign military personnel in Afghanistan.
٩ - تنتظر باهتمام شديد قيام بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة الخاصة في أفغانستان بالتحقق على وجه السرعة من وجود مرتزقة أجانب وأفراد عسكريين أجانب في أفغانستان وبإبلاغ ذلك بوضوح لﻷمين العام ومجلس اﻷمن.

13. The Government of Afghanistan is also of the opinion that no initiative implying the inefficacy of the United Nations Special Mission in Afghanistan, which currently deploys valuable efforts for a national reconciliation in Afghanistan, must be taken by the Security Council.
١٣ - كما ترى حكومة أفغانستان أنه لا يجدر بمجلس اﻷمن أن يتخذ أي مبادرة تؤدي إلى شل فعالية بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة الخاصة في أفغانستان التي تبذل حاليا جهودا لها قيمتها من أجل تحقيق المصالحة الوطنية في أفغانستان.

It requests the Secretary-General to continue to keep it regularly informed of the situation and his efforts, as well as those of UNSMA.
ويطلب إلى اﻷمين العام مواصلة إبقاء المجلس على علم بانتظام بالحالة وبجهوده وكذلك بجهود بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة الخاصة في أفغانستان.

It requests the Secretary-General to continue to keep it regularly informed of the situation and his efforts, as well as those of the Special Mission.
