the United Nations Observer Mission in Angola (MONUA) has been able to verify some of the accusations made by both the Government and UNITA.
واستطاعت بعثة مراقبي اﻷمم المتحدة في أنغولا من التحقق من بعض الاتهامات التي وجهتها كل من الحكومة ويونيتا.

Recognizing the important role of the United Nations Observer Mission in Angola (MONUA) at this critical stage of the peace process,

On this basis, I propose that the mandate of MONUA be extended until 31 January 1999, on the understanding that the Security Council would conduct a comprehensive review of the situation by the end of November 1998.

In this regard, the Council fully supports the joint statement by the Observer Mission and the representatives of the three observer States issued on 14 July 1997.
