2. The General Assembly has followed the efforts of the Central American countries to achieve a lasting peace and annually discussed the situation in Central America since 1983.

First, we wish to note the efforts made by the Central American countries with a view to a coherent strategy of development, which is given form in the Alliance for Sustainable Development, with an emphasis on collective efforts to reduce poverty in the isthmus through social integration, human development, investment in human resources and environmental protection.

Appreciates the efforts of the Central American countries to strengthen public safety in the area by organizing summit meetings on that issue, such as the Special Summit on Regional Security, held in Belize City on 4 September 2003, and the Special Summit on Security, held in Guatemala City on 17 July 2003;
14 - تقدر ما تبذله بلدان أمريكا الوسطى من جهود من أجل تعزيز أمن المواطنين في المنطقة عن طريق عقد مؤتمرات قمة بشأن هذه المسألة مثل مؤتمر القمة الاستثنائي بشأن الأمن الإقليمي الذي عقد في بليز سيتي في 4 أيلول/سبتمبر 2003، ومؤتمر القمة الاستثنائي بشأن الأمن الذي عقد في غواتيمالا سيتي في 17 تموز/يوليه 2003؛

Also, it has expressed its support for the decision of the Central American Presidents in the Tegucigalpa Protocol 1/ to declare Central America a region of peace, freedom, democracy and development, and it has encouraged the steps taken by the Central American countries to consolidate their progress towards democracy, peace, cooperation and unconditional respect for human rights.
كما أنها أيدت قرار رؤساء بلدان أمريكا الوسطى إعلان أمريكا الوسطى منطقة سلم وحرية وديمقراطية وتنمية، الوارد في بروتوكول تيغوسيغالبا)١(، وشجعت مبادرات بلدان أمريكا الوسطى من أجل تعزيز تنميتها في إطار الديمقراطية والسلم والتعاون والاحترام الدقيق لحقوق الانسان.
