The Executive Committee on Humanitarian Affairs adopted recommendations for a principle-centred approach to guide United Nations operations in Afghanistan and welcomed the establishment of an ad hoc Inter-Agency Task Force on Gender Issues in Afghanistan under the leadership of the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women.

The Council welcomes the Secretary-General’s commitment to mainstreaming a gender perspective and encourages him to demand accountability from senior managers for gender mainstreaming; in this regard, the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women is encouraged to continue to fulfil her important role.
