Meanwhile, the international interest in the Cyprus problem continued to intensify in the second half of 1996 as senior officials from a number of countries, as well as the European Union Presidency Envoy visited Cyprus, Greece and Turkey to help overcome the existing impasse by exploring possible ways of bringing the positions of the two sides closer together.

بل إن زعيم القبارصة اليونانيين اختار أن يكرر تحججاته المعروفة فيما يتعلق بمشكلة قبرص وخطة عنان ومستقبل عملية التسوية التي تضطلع بها الأمم المتحدة، وهي تحججات غير مقنعة بالمرة ولا تبعث على الأمل في أن مشكلة قبرص ستسوى في المستقبل القريب.

The Turkish Cypriot side is of the view that the international community should do its utmost to convince the Greek Cypriot side to return to comprehensive settlement negotiations without any preconditions so that the current window of opportunity can be utilized and the long-overdue settlement of the Cyprus problem is finally achieved.
ويرى الجانب القبرصي التركي أنه ينبغي للمجتمع الدولي أن يبذل قصاراه لإقناع الجانب القبرصي اليوناني بالعودة إلى مفاوضات التسوية الشاملة دون أي شروط مسبقة حتى يتسنى اغتنام الفرصة السانحة الآن وتحقيق تسوية نهائية طال انتظارها بمشكلة قبرص.

من المؤسف أن الجانب القبرصي اليوناني، الذي يزعم أنه يشكل " حكومة جمهورية قبرص " يفضل أن يواصل كل عام خلال الجلسة الافتتاحية للجمعية العامة، ممارسته المتمثلة في استغلال لقبه المغتصب بغية تشويه الحقائق القانونية والتاريخية المتعلقة بمشكلة قبرص.

من المؤسف أنَّ الجانب القبرصي اليوناني الذي يزعم أنه يشكل " حكومة جمهورية قبرص " ، يُؤْثِر كل عام، خلال الجلسة الافتتاحية للجمعية العامة، أن يواصل ممارسته المتمثلة في استغلال هذه التسمية بدون وجه حق لتشويه الحقائق القانونية والتاريخية المتعلقة بمشكلة قبرص.

It is unfortunate that the representatives of the Greek Cypriot administration, which purports to be the " Government of the Republic of Cyprus " , continue to exploit this illegitimate and unlawful title by making erroneous statements before various international organizations, fundamentally distorting the legal and historical facts pertaining to the Cyprus problem.
من المؤسف أن ممثلي الإدارة القبرصية اليونانية، التي تزعم أنها " حكومة جمهورية قبرص " ، يواصلون استغلال هذه الصفة غير المشروعة وغير القانونية من خلال إدلائهم ببيانات خاطئة أمام مختلف المنظمات الدولية، وهم بذلك إنما يشوهون الحقائق القانونية والتاريخية المتعلقة بمشكلة قبرص.
