It was highlighted that activities and responsibilities given to special procedures by the Human Rights Council had increased and had mostly had to be absorbed within existing resources.
ولفتا الانتباه إلى أن الأنشطة والمسؤوليات التي يعهد بها مجلس حقوق الإنسان إلى الإجراءات الخاصة قد ازدادت وأنه يتعين استيعاب معظمها ضمن الموارد القائمة.

They emphasized the need to work together to ensure that the review process to be undertaken by the Human Rights Council would result in a strengthened role of thematic and geographic mandates.
وأكدت ضرورة العمل المشترك لكفالة أن تؤدي عملية الاستعراض التي يضطلع بها مجلس حقوق الإنسان إلى تعزيز دور الولايات الجغرافية والمواضيعية.

The European Union's understanding of that resolution was that the review would be conducted at a high-level General Assembly meeting and would focus on the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, without any reopening consideration of that document, and that its preparation by the Human Rights Council would not entail the creation of new mechanisms.
