In 1994, the MERCOSUR region had adopted the Convention of Belem do Para do Para to Prevent, Punish and Eradicate Violence against Women, considered a model for binding treaties on violence against women.
وذكر أن منطقة ميركوسوف قد اعتمدت في عام 1994 اتفاقية بيليم دو بارا دو بارا لمنع العنف ضد المرأة ومعاقبة مرتكبيه والقضاء عليه.
