42. On 14 July 2009, Trial Chamber I convicted Tharcisse Renzaho, the former Prefect of Kigali-ville préfecture, of genocide, and murder and rape as crimes against humanity and serious violations of article 3 common to the Geneva Conventions and of Additional Protocol II thereto.

43. Following a retrial, on 11 February 2010, Trial Chamber III convicted Tharcisse Muvunyi, a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Rwandan Army, of direct and public incitement to commit genocide and sentenced him to 15 years' imprisonment.
