In order really to stimulate an open dialogue on the question of Puerto Rico, the resolution to be adopted at the current session should refer not only to resolution 1514 (XV) but also to resolution 1541 (XV). It was well established that resolution 1514 (XV) proclaimed the right of peoples and colonial Territories to self-determination and independence.
