The Government of Trinidad and Tobago had initially acceded to the Optional Protocol on 14 November 1980.
وكانت حكومة ترينيداد وتوباغو قد انضمت بداية إلى البروتوكول الاختياري في 14 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 1980.

وفي هذا السياق، يسلّم مقدم البلاغ بأن القانون في ترينيداد وتوباغو قد عدل في عام ٥٨٩١ بالنسبة لمسألة الاستفزاز، وذلك بمقتضى تعديل لقانون الجرائم ضد اﻷشخاص، ومنذ ذلك الحين أصبح يتعين ترك البت في مسألة الاستفزاز إلى هيئة المحلفين.

It would, however, be necessary to explain in a footnote that Trinidad and Tobago had denounced the Optional Protocol and had re—acceded on the same day subject to a reservation.

33. It was highlighted that two specific Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) towards which Trinidad and Tobago had made significant progress were the reduction of extreme poverty and surpassing the target for universal primary education, with citizens now benefiting from free preschool, primary, secondary and tertiary education.
33- وشُدِّد على أن ترينيداد وتوباغو قد حققت تقدماً كبيراً فيما يتعلق بهدفين محددين من الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية هما الحد من الفقر المدقع وتجاوز الهدف المحدد بالنسبة لتعميم التعليم الابتدائي، حيث يستفيد المواطنون الآن بالمجان من التعليم قبل المدرسي والابتدائي والثانوي والعالي.

22. Mr. Hetanang (Botswana), introducing the amendment contained in document A/C.3/62/L.76, said that Trinidad and Tobago had joined the sponsors.

Thus far, three of the projects submitted by Trinidad and Tobago had attracted private-sector funding from the United States of America; Italy had indicated that it would contribute to a trust fund for public administration projects in three Caribbean small island developing States; and Singapore had established a technical assistance and training package for small island developing States.

While Trinidad and Tobago has achieved gender parity in education, it is now faced with the converse problem of the lower enrolment and success rate among boys.
إذا كانت ترينيداد وتوباغو قد حققت تكافؤ الجنسين في التعليم، فإنها اليوم تواجه المشكلة العكسية المتمثلة في ضعف نسبة التحاق الفتيان بالمدارس ونجاحهم، وهذا من دواعي القلق.

However, Trinidad and Tobago has participated in discussions at the level of the CARICOM Standing Committee of Ministers of Labour Conferences on the issue of free movement of university graduates and other professional, skilled persons and occupations.
