Amnesty International (AI) stated that although the Government of Eritrea accepted recommendations made at its universal periodic review on 30 November 2009 (UPR in 2009) to ratify the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT), this Convention has not been ratified.
