The project's objective, in the medium term, will be to reinforce Pôle Dette's capacities to provide technical assistance in debt recording and strengthen UNCTAD's own capacities to provide technical assistance at the regional level.

Introducing the sub-item, the representative of the Secretariat said that, in its decision RC-3/6 on the regional and national delivery of technical assistance, the Conference of the Parties had requested the Secretariat to report to the Conference at the current meeting on the experience gained in implementing the regional delivery of technical assistance to the Parties of the Convention during 2007 - 2008.
