Mr. González (Argentina), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that work had been done by the Group in response to some concerns that had been expressed by the EU.

Mr. González (Argentina), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that the review would be carried out by the Secretariat and its results would be reflected in the operational and administrative arrangement between UNIDO and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

26. Mr. Babadoudou (Benin), speaking on behalf of the Group of African States, introduced the proposed amendment, which was also sponsored by the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Group of Arab States.

28 - السيد ولد الشيخ (موريتانيا): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الدول العربية، فقال إن فوائد العولمة ومخاطرها موزّعة توزيعاً غير متكافئ.

11. Mr. Alyemany (Yemen), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that rapid urbanization meant that a significant portion of the route to sustainable development entailed managing cities and urban sprawl.
11 - السيد اليماني (اليمن): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الـ 77 والصين فقال إن التحضر السريع يعني أن جزءاً كبيراً من الطريق إلى التنمية المستدامة يتطلب إدارة المدن والتوسّع العمراني.

Mr. Pourmand Tehrani (Islamic Republic of Iran), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that the Group took note of the information contained in the report in document IDB.39/17 on new developments since the presentation of the preceding report on personnel matters.

Mr. Padilla de León (Colombia), speaking on behalf of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States (GRULAC), said that the Group welcomed the Secretariat's efforts to review the relationship between UNIDO and non-governmental organizations periodically, to maintain a clearer and more up-to-date picture of the cooperation existing with such organizations.
16- السيد باديلا دي ليون (كولومبيا): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة دول أمريكا اللاتينية والكاريبـي، فقال إنَّ المجموعة ترحّب بالجهود التي تبذلها الأمانة لاستعراض العلاقة بين اليونيدو والمنظمات غير الحكومية بصورة منتظمة، وذلك بهدف الحفاظ على صورة أوضح وأحدث عن التعاون القائم معها.

Mr. Rivera Mora (Observer for El Salvador), speaking on behalf of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States (GRULAC), said that GRULAC had participated with enthusiasm in the informal working group and was convinced that Member States could identify future opportunities and resources, maximize and enhance the Organization's experience and raise its profile.

Mr. Sharma (Nepal), speaking on behalf of the Group of Least Developed Countries, said that what little progress had been made towards sustainable development by the least developed countries was being threatened by the recent crises, by climate change, and by unmet commitments on the part of the international community.
1 - السيد شارما (نيبال): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة أقل البلدان نمواً فقال إن ما أحرزته أقل البلدان نمواً في سبيل التنمية المستدامة من تقدُّم قليل يتعرّض لخطر الأزمات التي وقعت مؤخراً، وبسبب تغيُّر المناخ وبسبب التزامات غير مستوفاة من جانب المجتمع الدولي.

6. Mr. Al Hadhrami (Yemen), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that national efforts must be complemented by intensified international cooperation to reverse marginalization, manage risks, overcome the challenges that globalization presented, especially for developing countries, and seize the opportunities that it created.
6 - السيد الحضرمي (اليمن): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الـ77 والصين فذكر أن الجهود الوطنية يجب أن يكملّها تعاون دولي مكثَّف لوقف عملية التهميش وإدارة المخاطر والتغلُّب على التحديات التي تمثّلها العولمة وخاصة بالنسبة للبلدان النامية، كما يجب أن تنتهز الفرص التي تتيحها هذه العولمة.

Mr. Rai (Nepal), speaking on behalf of the Group of Least Developed Countries, said that while globalization profoundly influenced economic, social and environmental development, the number of countries that had benefited from it was limited and most of the least developed countries remained marginalized in the globalized economy.
16 - السيد راي (نيبال): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة أقل البلدان نمواً فقال إن العولمة تؤثّر تأثيراً عميقاً على التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والبيئية، ولكن عدد البلدان التي استفادت منها عدد محدود كما أن معظم أقل البلدان نمواً ما زالت مهمّشة في الاقتصاد العالمي.

11. Mr. Alyemany (Yemen), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that the global nature of poverty called for a multifaceted, integrated approach that would address its economic, political, social, environmental and institutional dimensions as well as its root causes.
11 - السيد اليماني (اليمن): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الـ 77 والصين فقال إن الطبيعة العالمية للفقر تتطلّب الأخذ بنهج متكامل متعدد الأوجه يتصدّى للأبعاد الاقتصادية والسياسية والاجتماعية والبيئية والمؤسسية كما يتصدى لأسبابها الجذرية.

Mr. Mwanyula (Malawi), speaking on behalf of the Group of African States, said that the General Assembly, in proclaiming the Second United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty, had recognized that eradicating poverty was a core requirement for sustainable development in developing countries, particularly in Africa.
28 - موانيولا (ملاوي): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الدول الأفريقية فقال إن الجمعية العامة عندما أعلنت عقد الأمم المتحدة الثاني للقضاء على الفقر سلّمت بأن القضاء على الفقر هو شرط أساسي من شروط التنمية المستدامة في البلدان النامية وخاصة في أفريقيا.

Mr. González (Argentina), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, thanked the Chair for the new wording he had proposed, which the Group could generally accept, but suggested that the last part of operative paragraph 1 should read: " on the contribution of industrial development, in particular the productive sectors, to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. "
22- السيد غونسالس (الأرجنتين): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الـ77 والصين وشكر الرئيس على الصياغة الجديدة التي اقترحها والتي يمكن للمجموعة أن تقبلها عموما، ولكنه اقترح تعديل الجزء الأخير من الفقرة الأولى من المنطوق لتكون كما يلي: " في ما يتعلق بإسهام التنمية الصناعية، وخصوصا القطاعات الإنتاجية، في تحقيق الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية. "

Mr. González (Argentina), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, confirmed that Sweden had correctly understood the intention of subparagraph (b) and proposed, for the sake of clarity, that a full stop should be inserted after " Member States " in the third line of that subparagraph and should be followed by " In this regard, particular attention should be placed to the review... " , the rest of the text remaining unchanged.
31- السيد غونسالس (الأرجنتين): تكلّم نيابة عن مجموعة الـ77 والصين فأكد أن مندوب السويد قد أحسن فهم القصد من الفقرة الفرعية (ب) واقترح، توخيا لمزيد من الوضوح، إضافة نقطة بعد عبارة " الدول الأعضاء " في السطر الثالث من تلك الفقرة الفرعية وتليها جملة جديدة تبدأ بـ " وفي هذا الصدد، ينبغي إيلاء اهتمام خاص لاستعراض... " ، ويبقى باقي النص دون تعديل.
