Role of the Rural Women's Development Unit in training and educating rural women:

The Union has set up kindergartens to provide preschool service in Rural Women's Development centres, with a view to facilitating registration by mothers in various literacy programmes, vocational training courses and skills improvement training programmes, with the aim of generating income.

Programme to Enhance the Effectiveness of the Staff of the Directorate for the development of rural women in All Governorates
برنامج رفع كفاءة الكادر العامل في مديرية تنمية المرأة الريفية في كافة محافظات القطر

In the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, the Rural Women's Development Unit runs a programme designed to meet the needs of rural women in all governorates country-wide by integrating the development of rural women into programmes of action as a main strategic concern.
وتعمل وحدة تنمية المرأة الريفية في وزارة الزراعة والإصلاح الزراعي وفق برنامج لتلبية احتياجات المرأة الريفية في كافة محافظات القطر، بحيث يجسد كمحاور استراتيجية تنمية المرأة الريفية إلى برامج عمل.

7. It congratulates the State party on the establishment of (i) the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs as the national machinery for the advancement of women and (ii) the Directorate of Rural Women Development within the Ministry of Agriculture.

6. A project for Rural Women's Development centres, in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund, aimed at helping impoverished women.
٦ - مشروع مراكز تنمية المرأة الريفية بالتعاون مع اليونيسيف لمساعدة النساء الفقيرات.

Several bodies are active in training and educating rural women, in particular the General Women's Federation and the Rural Women's Development Unit at the Ministry of Agriculture.
تنشط جهات عديدة في مجال تدريب وتعليم المرأة الريفية من أهمها الاتحاد العام النسائي ووحدة تنمية المرأة الريفية في وزارة الزراعة.

In terms of achievements, the Rural Women's Development Unit has implemented a number of women's empowerment projects, some with the support of international organizations, an investment that has effectively enhanced the socio-economic circumstances of the women benefiting from such projects.
أما على صعيد ما تم إنجازه، فقد نفذت وحدة تنمية المرأة الريفية العديد من مشاريع تمكين المرأة، ومنها نفذ بدعم من المنظمات الدولية، وأثبت هذا الاستثمار فعاليته في تحسين الحالة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية للمستفيدات من المشروع.

One of the social phenomena catalogued by some of the studies carried out by the Rural Women's Development Unit is that of early marriage among girls; it was observed that such marriages are connected with the prevailing idea among rural inhabitants that the reproductive role falls essentially to women. Consequently, the various social, economic and cultural roles of women are curtailed.
ومن الظواهر الاجتماعية التي رصدتها بعض الدراسات التي نفذتها وحدة تنمية المرأة الريفية ظاهرة الزواج المبكر للفتيات، حيث لوحظ أن زواج الفتاة المبكر مرتبط بمفهوم سائد لدى أبناء الريف وهو تكريس دور المرأة الإنجابي كدور أساسي، وبالتالي اختصار أدوارها المختلفة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية.

As part of its annual work plan, the Rural Women's Development Unit endeavours to carry out a series of support activities designed to address the problems of rural women, as covered in the advice programme. The activities carried out by the Unit in 2004 included, inter alia, the following:

A communication strategy was drawn up for the development of rural women with a view to securing their equality with men and changing the cultural traditions which discriminate against rural women and conceal the triple role which they play in rural life.
وضعت استراتيجية للاتصال من أجل تنمية المرأة الريفية بهدف كفالة مساواتها مع الرجل وتغيير التقاليد الثقافية التي تنطوي على تمييز ضد المرأة الريفية وعلى إغفال الدور الثلاثي الذي تقوم به في الحياة الريفية.

159. According to statistics of the Central Bureau of Statistics, females accounted for 24.6 per cent of the employees of the Ministry of Agriculture for 2010. A woman has served as director of the Directorate for the development of rural women since 2006.
159- ووفقاً لما جاء في إحصائيات المكتب المركزي للإحصاء عام 2010، تبلغ نسبة الإناث إلى الذكور 24.6 في المائة، في وزارة الزراعة، وقد تولت سيدة منصب مديرة مديرية تنمية المرأة الريفية عام ٢٠٠٦ في وزارة الزراعة وحتى الآن.

The third National Conference of Egyptian Women, entitled " advancement of rural women " , was held in 1998, and discussed the promotion of literacy, education, health, education about reproductive health, the advancement of rural women, the development of micro-enterprises and the promotion of rural women's awareness of their political, social and legal rights.
وفي عام 1998، عُقد المؤتمر القومي الثالث للمرأة المصرية تحت عنوان " تنمية المرأة الريفية " ، وناقش محو أمية المرأة وتعليمها وصحة المرأة الريفية والصحة الإنجابية وتنمية المرأة الريفية وتنمية الصناعات الصغيرة ووعي المرأة الريفية بما يحقق السياسة الاجتماعية والقانونية.
