The Chairperson of the Subcommission, Mr. Jaafar, informed the Commission that, after the initial verification of the format and the completeness of the submission carried out during the twenty-sixth session, the Subcommission had started its consideration of the submission during a resumed twenty-sixth session held from 15 to 19 November 2010.

In September 2013, the Human Rights Council adopted decision 24/117, proposed by the African Group, in which it called upon the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights to organize a high-level panel discussion on the identification of good practices in combating female genital mutilations, to be held during the twenty-sixth session of the Council, in June 2014.

In its resolution 26/15, the Human Rights Council requested the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to transmit to the General Assembly at its sixty-ninth session the summary report prepared by the Office of the panel discussions on gender stereotyping and on women's human rights in the context of the sustainable development agenda, held at the twenty-sixth session of the Council.
