The Secretary-General had reported that the current calendar of meetings in Nairobi did not justify the cost of establishing a permanent interpretation service and that such a move would not be immediately cost-effective.
وقال إن الأمين العام قد أبلغ بأن الجدول الزمني الحالي للاجتماعات في نيروبي لا يبرر تكلفة إقامة خدمة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية وأن هذه الخطوة لن تكون فعالة من حيث التكلفة في المستقبل القريب.

17. The decision to create a permanent interpretation service at Nairobi will have a dramatic impact on meeting activities at Nairobi.
17 - سيكون لقرار إنشاء خدمة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية في نيروبي أثر درامي على أنشطة الاجتماعات في نيروبي.

It noted with appreciation that there had been steady progress and improvement in the utilization of conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) since the establishment of a permanent interpretation service in 2001.

5. In the course of the preparation of the reports on the utilization of conference facilities at Nairobi, all variables relevant to the possible establishment of a permanent interpretation service were reviewed carefully.
٥ - وفي سياق إعداد التقارير الخاصة باستخدام مرافق المؤتمرات في نيروبي، جرى استعراض جميع العناصر المتغيرة ذات الصلة بإمكانية إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية بعناية.

It was felt, moreover, that as one of the four full-fledged United Nations conference centres, the United Nations Office at Nairobi should in time be equipped with a permanent interpretation service, independently of its needs.
