The General Assembly assumed that responsibility when it adopted the important resolution entitled “Role of the United Nations in promoting development in the context of globalization and interdependence”.
ولقد تحملت الجمعية العامة تلك المسؤولية عندما اتخذت القرار الهام المعنون " دور اﻷمم المتحدة في دعم التنمية في سياق العولمة والاعتماد المتبادل " .

وإذ تحيط علما بتقرير اﻷمين العام عن دور اﻷمم المتحدة في دعم التنمية في سياق العولمة والاعتماد المتبادل)١(،

2. At the 28th meeting, on 29 October, the representative of Indonesia, on behalf of the States Members of the United Nations that are members of the Group of 77 and China, introduced a draft resolution (A/C.2/53/L.20) entitled “Role of the United Nations in promoting development in the context of globalization and interdependence”, which read:
٢ - في الجلسة ٢٨ المعقودة في ٢٩ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر، قام ممثل اندونيسيا، باسم الدول اﻷعضاء في اﻷمم المتحدة التي هي أعضاء في مجموعة اﻟ ٧٧ والصين، بعرض مشروع قرار (A/C.2/53/L.20) بعنوان " دور اﻷمم المتحدة في دعم التنمية في سياق التنمية والاعتماد المتبادل " ، نصه كما يلي:

The Assembly, in its resolution 53/169 of 15 December 1998 on the role of the United Nations in promoting development in the context of globalization and interdependence, referred to the ministerial communiqué and requested the Secretary-General to report to the Assembly on its implementation .
وأشارت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها ٥٣/١٦٩ المؤرخ ١٥ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨، عن دور اﻷمم المتحدة في دعم التنمية في سياق العولمة والاعتماد المتبادل إلى البلاغ الوزاري وطلبت إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا إلى الجمعية العامة عن تنفيذه.
