3. On 19 October 2000, the Commission, at its fifth special session, adopted resolution S5/1, which the Economic and Social Council endorsed in its decision 2000/311 on 22 November 2000.

3. In the light of the agreement of a majority of its members, the Commission on Human Rights convened in its fifth special session from 17 October to 19 October 2000.

On 22 November 2000, the Economic and Social Council, in its decision 2000/311, endorsed the resolution adopted by the Commission at its fifth special session.

Following a request made on behalf of the Council of Arab Permanent Representatives of Members of the League of Arab States, the Commission on Human Rights subsequently convened its fifth special session from 17 to 19 October 2000 to discuss the grave and massive violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupying Power.
2- وبناءً على طلب قُدم باسم مجلس الممثلين الدائمين للدول الأعضاء في جامعة الدول العربية، عقدت لجنة حقـوق الإنسان دورتها الاستثنائية الخامسة فـي الفترة من 17 إلى 19 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2000 لمناقشة الانتهاكات الخطيرة والجسيمة من جانب دولة الاحتلال الإسرائيلية لحقوق الإنسان للشعب الفلسطيني.

The Council had before it the report of the Commission on Human Rights on its fifth special session (E/2000/112)19 and the statement submitted by the Secretary-General in accordance with rule 31 of the rules of procedure of the Economic and Social Council on the administrative and programme budget implications of Commission on Human Rights resolution S-5/1 (E/2000/112/Add.1).
وكان معروضا على المجلس تقرير لجنة حقوق الإنسان عن دورتها الاستثنائية الخامسة (E/2000/112)(19) والبيان الذي قدمه الأمين العام وفقا للمادة 31 من النظام الداخلي للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي المتعلقة بالآثار الإدارية والمترتبة في الميزانية البرنامجية على قرار لجنة حقوق الإنسان دإ-5/1 (E/2000/112/Add.1).

Also takes note of the letter of 11 April 2001 of the Special Rapporteur in which he requests a visit in view of resolution S-5/1 adopted by the Commission at its fifth special session on 19 October 2000, and urges him to undertake such a visit as soon as possible and without further delay, and also urges all parties involved to facilitate such a visit, which remains outstanding;
27- تحيط علماً أيضاً برسالة المقرر الخاص المؤرخة 11 نيسان/أبريل 2001 التي يطلب فيها القيام بزيارة في ضوء القرار دإ-5/1 الذي اعتمدته اللجنة في دورتها الاستثنائية الخامسة في 19 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2000، وتحثه على القيام بهذه الزيارة في أقرب وقت ممكن ودون مزيد من التأخير، كما تحث جميع الأطراف المعنية على تيسير هذه الزيارة المرتقبة؛

90. Pursuant to resolution S5/1 adopted during the fifth special session of the Commission on Human Rights, held from 17 to 19 October 2000, the Representative wrote to the Government of Israel requesting a visit to the occupied Palestinian territories.
