The Working Group noted that its sixteenth and seventeenth sessions were scheduled to take place from 2 to 6 November 2009 and from 8 to 12 February 2010 respectively, those dates being subject to approval by the Commission at its forty-second session (Vienna, 29 June to 17 July 2009).

Ms. Dupuy Lasserre (President, Human Rights Council), introducing the report of the Human Rights Council on its sixteenth and seventeenth sessions and fourteenth to seventeenth special sessions (A/66/53), said that 2011 marked the fifth year since the establishment of the Human Rights Council. The Council had conducted a review of its functioning, and the report on its outcome had been adopted by the General Assembly.

Action on item 3: The AWG-LCA will be invited to consider item 3 of the provisional agenda with a view to reaching an agreed comprehensive and balanced outcome, to enable the full, effective and sustained implementation of the Convention through long-term cooperative action now, up to and beyond 2012, pursuant to decision 1/CP.13, taking into account decisions adopted by the COP at its sixteenth and seventeenth sessions.
