The Central American Presidents instructed various regional authorities, including the Central American Security Commission, the meeting of Central American National Civil Police Directors and the bodies dealing with migration flows in the region, and the Conference of Central American Armed Forces, to take specific actions in the following areas:

Consequently, the Central American Presidents consider that this special situation which affects mankind must be handled in such a way as to permit the maintenance and increase of tolerance and good relations among different cultures, religions, ethnic groups and nations, in an indication of the richness of human diversity.

We welcome and support the position adopted by the Central American Presidents meeting at Costa del Sol, El Salvador, on 5 October 1995, whereby they reiterated their commitment to continue to improve the Central American educational system and their intention to eradicate illiteracy by the year 2000.
