فالمادة 26 تحمي الحق في المساواة أمام القانون والمساواة في التمتع بحماية القانون؛ وتقتضي حظر التمييز في القطاعين العام والخاص، وتكفل لجميع الأشخاص حماية متساوية وفعالة من التمييز لأي سبب كالعرق أو اللون أو الجنس أو اللغة أو الدين أو الرأي سياسيا أو غير سياسي أو الأصل القومي أو الاجتماعي أو الثروة أو النسب أو غير ذلك من الأسباب.
