واللجنة قلقة بصفة خاصة إزاء قضية المواطن الموريتاني شيباني واجي، الذي مات في 16 تموز/يوليه 2003 في فيينا أمام طبيب، وذلك أثناء قيام ثلاثة معاونين طبيين وستة من ضباط الشرطة بإلقاء القبض عليه، ولم يوقَف أي منهم عن العمل أثناء التحقيق، وبُرِّئ معظمهم؛ وقد حُكم على الطبيب وأحد ضباط الشرطة بالسجن فترة سبعة أشهر وأربعة أشهر مع وقف التنفيذ.
