In order to fulfil the requirement that victims of torture during the dictatorship receive compensation, the Committee recommends that:

Nicaragua noted the lack of safeguards in the detention of asylum seekers, affecting the most vulnerable people, including people who had been victims of torture in their own countries.

8. However, too many people around the world continued to be denied their fundamental rights and were victims of torture, religious intolerance, extrajudicial execution, violence, poverty and starvation.

In Ankara, Istanbul and Diyarbakir the Special Rapporteur met persons who themselves or whose relatives had allegedly been torture victims.
