18. The Committee recalls that the General Assembly, in section IV, paragraph 2 of its resolution 59/296, requested the Secretary-General to monitor the evolution of structures in individual peacekeeping operations to avoid the duplication of functions and an excessive proportion of higher-grade posts, bearing in mind the mandates, complexities and specificities of each mission.
