The Committee commends the Commission for this activity and requests that in the next budget submission the secretariat of the Commission clearly spell out the effect that the results of the evaluation will have on the operation of the Commission and on the proposed estimates.
وتثني اللجنة على الإسكوا لاضطلاعها بهذا النشاط، وتطلب إلى أمانة الإسكوا أن تحدد بوضوح في عرض الميزانية المقبلة الأثر الذي ستتركه نتائج التقييم على عمل الإسكوا وعلى التقديرات المقترحة.

The programme of work of ESCWA for the biennium 1998-1999 comprises five subprogrammes and was formulated within a thematic framework of the medium-term plan for the period 1998-2001.3 The programme of work is also based, as indicated in paragraph 20.5, on the assumption that ESCWA will be operating at its permanent headquarters at Beirut as of September 1997.

19.23 The nature of ESCWA work demands that it become a leading knowledge-based institution, meaning that knowledge-sharing requires greater attention throughout its work.
19-23 وتتطلب طبيعة عمل الإسكوا أن تصبح اللجنة مؤسسة رائدة قائمة على المعرفة، بمعنى أنه يلزم زيادة الاهتمام بتبادل المعارف خلال عملها.

19.31 The indicators of achievement used below are intended to measure direct impacts of ESCWA work and to show a link between the implementation of the ESCWA work programme and the expected accomplishments.
