We wish to join other speakers in expressing our appreciation to the Secretary-General and the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea for a set of comprehensive reports, contained in documents A/61/63, the addendum thereto, and A/61/154 on developments and issues relating to oceans and the law of the sea during the past year.

The present report is submitted pursuant to paragraph 249 of General Assembly resolution 66/231, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to prepare a report on developments and issues relating to ocean affairs and the law of the sea, including the implementation of resolution 66/231, for consideration at its sixty-seventh session.
