Even if the primary responsibility for implementing the outcome of Copenhagen falls first to each Government, it is highly important that the United Nations, through its system, and other development partners strengthen their assistance to poor countries.

25. At the thirty-sixth session of the Commission for Social Development, in February 1998, several countries were invited to make special presentations on implementation of the outcome of the Summit at the national and regional levels.
٢٥ - وفي الدورة السادسة والثلاثين التي عقدتها لجنة التنمية الاجتماعية في شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٨، دُعيت عدة بلدان إلى تقديم بيانات خاصة عن تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمر القمة على الصعيدين الوطني واﻹقليمي.

Enhanced substantive support will be provided to the annual sessions of the revitalized Commission for Social Development, which has been entrusted with the primary responsibility for implementing the outcome of the Social Summit in accordance with its multi-year programme of work, and to the Preparatory Committee for the special session, which will hold its second substantive session in April 2000.
وسيجري تقديم الدعم الفني المعزز إلى الدورات السنوية التي تعقدها لجنة التنمية الاجتماعية بعد إعادة تنشيطها، وقد عهد إليها بالمسؤولية الرئيسية عن تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمر القمة الاجتماعية وفقا لبرنامج عملها المتعدد السنوات، وإلى اللجنة التحضيرية للدورة الاستثنائية، التي ستعقد دورتها الموضوعية الثانية في نيسان/أبريل ٠٠٠٢.

(h) Request that ESCWA prepare a periodic follow-up report on the implementation of the outcomes of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Arab countries for submission to the League of Arab States for adoption;
