That is why we attach great importance to the call upon all Member States, contained in paragraph 2 of the draft resolution, to report annually, by 30 April, to the Secretary-General their military expenditures for the latest fiscal year for which data are available.

It is for this reason that the draft resolution in paragraph 2 not only calls upon Member States to report annually to the Secretary-General their military expenditures for the latest fiscal year for which data are available, but also, in a new paragraph 4, takes up one specific recommendation the Secretary-General has made in his report [A/52/302] on this matter.

Uzbekistan 1. The General Assembly, in its resolution 54/43 of 1 December 1999, inter alia, called upon all Member States to report annually, by 30 April, to the Secretary-General their military expenditures for the latest fiscal year for which data were available, using, preferably and to the extent possible, the reporting instrument as recommended in its resolution 35/142 B of 12 December 1980.
1 - أهابت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها 54/43 المؤرخ 1 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1999، في جملة أمور، بجميع الدول الأعضاء موافاة الأمين العام، بحلول 30 نيسان/أبريل من كل سنة، بتقارير عن نفقاتها العسكرية عن آخر سنة مالية تتوافر عنها بيانات، ويفضل أن تستخدم قدر الإمكان، أداة الإبلاغ الموصى بها في قرارها 35/142 باء المؤرخ 12 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1980.

This is why we consider well-placed the call contained in operative paragraph 2 of the draft resolution for all Member States to report annually, by April, to the Secretary-General their military expenditures for the latest fiscal year for which data are available, using the reporting instrument as recommended in resolution 35/142 B.
