57. On 11 July, after seven weeks of intense negotiations, President Sleiman issued a decree forming a national unity government, headed by Fouad Siniora as Prime Minister.

The national dialogue has tasked Prime Minister Fouad Seniora to visit Damascus at the earliest opportunity to follow up on the relevant issues that need to be addressed through bilateral dialogue.
