Over a year ago, the General Assembly authorized United Nations participation in the International Civilian Mission in Haiti.

2. Decides to authorize, on the basis of the above recommendation, the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations component of the International Civilian Mission to Haiti until 31 December 1999, according to the terms of reference and modalities under which the Mission is operating;
٢ - تقرر أن تأذن، على أساس التوصية الواردة أعلاه، بتجديد ولاية عنصر اﻷمم المتحدة في البعثة المدنية الدولية في هايتي حتى ١٣ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ٩٩٩١، وفقا للصلاحيات والطرائق التي تعمل البعثة بموجبها؛

The draft resolution welcomes the recommendation of the Secretary-General in his most recent report on the situation of democracy and human rights in Haiti to extend the mandate of the United Nations component of the International Civilian Mission to Haiti until 31 December 1999.
ويرحب مشروع القرار بتوصية اﻷمين العام في آخر تقرير له عن حالة الديمقراطية وحقوق اﻹنسان في هايتي، بتمديد ولاية عنصر اﻷمم المتحدة في البعثة المدنية الدولية في هايتي حتى ٣١ كانون اﻷول/ يسمبر ١٩٩٩.

In the event that the mandate for the United Nations component of the International Civilian Mission in Haiti (MICIVIH) is extended beyond 31 July 1997, the team can be accommodated in the MICIVIH headquarters building and the provision for rental space would not be required.

I wish briefly, on behalf of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, to state that we fully share in welcoming the recommendation in the Secretary-General’s report that the joint participation of the United Nations with the Organization of American States in the International Civilian Mission to Haiti should be continued.

801. On 3 April, at President Préval's request, the General Assembly extended the mandate of the United Nations component of the International Civilian Mission in Haiti (MICIVIH) until 31 August 1996.
٨٠١ - وفي ٣ نيسان/أبريل، وبناء على طلب الرئيس بريفال، مددت الجمعية العامة ولاية عنصر اﻷمم المتحدة المشترك في البعثة المدنية الدولية في هايتي حتى ٣١ آب/أغسطس عام ١٩٩٦.

Mr. Javier Zuñiga (of Mexican nationality), formerly Director for Human Rights in the International Civilian Mission to Haiti, was appointed Chief of the Operation as of 23 September 1996.
وقد عُين السيد خافيير سونييغا )المكسيكي الجنسية(، الذي كان مديرا لشؤون حقوق اﻹنسان في البعثة المدنية الدولية في هايتي، رئيسا للعملية اعتبارا من ٢٣ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٦.

Therefore, I am proposing to the General Assembly that it approve the President's request and authorize the extension of the mandate and financing of the United Nations component of MICIVIH for one additional year.

The mandate of the United Nations component of MICIVIH would be renewed for a period of seven months to 31 July 1997, with the possibility of a further extension until 31 December 1997.
وستجدد ولاية عنصر اﻷمم المتحدة في البعثة المدنية الدولية لفترة سبعة أشهر حتى ٣١ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٧، مع إمكانية تمديدها من جديد حتى ٣١ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٧.
