In its resolution, the Commission also requested the Special Rapporteur to apply a gender perspective in her work and to pay special attention to violations of the right to life of children, participants in demonstrations or other public manifestations, persons belonging to minorities, and individuals carrying out peaceful activities in defence of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Since his mission in November 2007, the Special Rapporteur has gathered the direct testimonies of 23 monks who participated in the demonstrations.
