All costs related to the holding of the videoconference, including the travelling expenses of the witness or expert in the requested State, shall be refunded by the requesting State to the requested State, which may be provided with the necessary technical equipment by the requesting State if it does not have that equipment.

The Convention provides for detailed rules relating to certain forms of mutual legal assistance, such as the hearing of a detained person as a witness in the requested State (paragraphs 10, 11 and 12 of article 18) and the hearing of other witnesses, experts or other persons in the requested State (paragraph 27 of article 18).

Moreover, criminal recovery requires fewer financial resources on the part of the requesting State, since the substantial part of the investigation that has to be conducted is carried out by the law enforcement agencies of the requested State.
علاوة على ذلك، فان الاسترداد في الدعاوى الجنائية يتطلب قدرا أقل من الموارد المالية من جانب الدولة الطالبة، لأن الجزء الجوهري من التحقيق الذي يتعين القيام به إنما تضطلع به أجهزة إنفاذ القانون في الدولة متلقية الطلب.
