6. In 1993, the Disarmament Commission unanimously adopted “Guidelines and recommendations for regional approaches to disarmament within the context of global security”, which included a substantive consideration on zones free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.

The States members of the European Community noted with satisfaction the adoption by the Disarmament Commission of the guidelines and recommendations for regional approaches to disarmament within the context of international security (A/48/42, annex II). The Community and its member States would continue in the future to support any initiative that would lead to the strengthening of security in any given region.
وتلاحظ الدول اﻷعضاء في الجماعة اﻷوروبية مع الارتياح اعتماد هيئة نزع السلاح للمبادئ التوجيهية والتوصيات بشأن النهج الاقليمية تجاه نزع السلاح في سياق اﻷمن العالمي )A/48/42، المرفق الثاني(. وسوف تواصل الجماعة اﻷوروبية والدول اﻷعضاء فيها تأييد أي مبادرة من شأنها أن تؤدي الى تعزيز اﻷمن في أي منطقة.
