Some delegations welcomed the draft memorandum of understanding concerning the repression of piracy and armed robbery against ships in the Western Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden and Red Sea, which, it was hoped, would be finalized at a high-level meeting organized under the auspices of IMO.

12. The International Maritime Organization held a high-level meeting from 26 to 29 January 2009 in Djibouti, where 17 regional States adopted the Djibouti Code of Conduct concerning the Repression of Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in the Western Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden.
12 - وعقدت المنظمة البحرية الدولية اجتماعا رفيع المستوى من 26 إلى 29 كانون الثاني/يناير 2009 في جيبوتي، حيث اعتمدت 17 دولة على صعيد المنطقة مدونة جيبوتي لقواعد السلوك المتعلقة بقمع أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح ضد السفن في غرب المحيط الهندي وخليج عدن.

We welcome the adoption of the Djibouti Code of Conduct to combat piracy and armed robbery of vessels in the Western Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. We also welcome its entry into force in January of this year.
وفي هذا الصدد، نرحب باعتماد مدونة جيبوتي لقواعد السلوك المتعلقة بقمع أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح ضد السفن في غرب المحيط الهندي وخليج عدن وبدخول المدونة حيز النفاذ في كانون الثاني/يناير 2009.

134. UNEP has been directly involved with capacity-building through the project " Addressing land-based activities in the Western Indian Ocean " , co-financed by GEF and Norway.

27 - ولا يزال تنفيذ مدونة قواعد السلوك المتعلقة بقمع أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح ضد السفن في غرب المحيط الهندي وخليج عدن، التي تموَّل وتدار عن طريق المنظمة البحرية الدولية، يحقق نتائج ملموسة في المجالات المواضيعية الأربعة التالية: تبادل المعلومات، والتدريب، والتشريعات الوطنية، وبناء القدرات.

23. The Djibouti Code of Conduct concerning the Repression of Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in the Western Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden became effective on 29 January 2009.
23 - أصبحت مدونة جيبوتي لقواعد السلوك المتعلقة بقمع أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح ضد السفن في غرب المحيط الهندي وخليج عدن نافذة اعتبارا من 29 كانون الثاني/يناير 2009.

EPCO is also a member of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association.
والمنظمة عضو أيضا في الجمعية العلمية البحرية في غرب المحيط الهندي.

Under the initiative of the International Maritime Organization, a new regional framework has been under consideration to prevent, deter and suppress piracy and armed robbery in the areas of the Western Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
