45. One of the essential means in preventing torture is the existence, in procedural legislation, of detailed provisions on the inadmissibility of unlawfully obtained confessions and other tainted evidence.

It is increasingly affirming itself as a model for engagement between the United Nations, State parties, national preventive mechanisms and civil society in the prevention of torture.
