At their meeting in Washington on 30 November of last year the donor countries pledged to provide assistance to the Palestinian people in the amount of 3 billion dollars over a five-year period. This pledge was reiterated during the recent meeting in Tokyo, held under the chairmanship of the Foreign Ministers of Japan and Norway in mid-October.
لقد التزمت الدول المانحة في اجتماعها في واشنطن بتاريخ ٣٠ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر من العام الماضي بتقديم مساعدات للشعب الفلسطيني تبلغ قيمتها ٣ مليارات دولار أمريكي على فترة خمس سنوات، وقد أعيد التأكيد على هذه الالتزامات خلال الاجتماع اﻷخير في طوكيو الذي انعقد برئاسة وزيري خارجية اليابان والنرويج في منتصف تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر الماضي.

The signing of the Declaration of Principles on the autonomy of the Gaza Strip and Jericho, on 13 September 1993, the Cairo agreement, on 4 May 1994, the agreement between Jordan and Israel and, finally, the Taba accord, which was signed in Washington on 28 September 1995, on the implementation of the second phase of the Declaration of Principles, gives us hope that peace in the Middle East is now on the horizon.

Its leaders and members were able to return to Haiti after the military operation on 19 September 1994 and the Mission is currently carrying out its former functions of dissuasion and information, as well as fulfilling the new responsibilities given it at the joint OAS-United Nations meeting held in Washington on 4 November 1994.
