٧٥ - ومضى قائلا إن سري لانكا تدرك جيدا ويلات الصراع المسلح وأثره على اﻷطفال على ضوء تجربتها التي شهدت حالة إرهاب أسفرت عن موت وإصابة أعداد لا حصر لها من النساء واﻷطفال واقتلاع أطفال من ديارهم.

Sri Lanka had established an interministerial committee to formulate legislation to combat money laundering and favoured practical cooperation among Member States in formulating and enforcing such legislation.
٢٥ - وأردف قائلا إن سري لانكا أنشأت لجنة مشتركة بين الوزارات لصياغة تشريع لمكافحة غسل اﻷموال وتفضل التعاون الملموس فيما بين الدول اﻷعضاء لصياغة تشريع كهذا وتنفيذه.

Sri Lanka fully supported General Assembly resolution 50/148, on international action to combat drug abuse and illicit production and trafficking, which was balanced and comprehensive.
٢٦ - ومضى قائلا إن سري لانكا تؤيد تـأييدا تاما قرار الجمعية العامة ٥٠/١٤٨، بشأن العمل الدولي لمكافحة إساءة استعمال المخدرات وإنتاجها والاتجار بها بشكل غير مشروع، وهو قرار يتصف بالتوازن والشمول.

52. Like all other Member States, Sri Lanka rejoiced at the turn of events in South Africa, which had taken its rightful place in the comity of nations, and had a vital contribution to make not only to the future of the African continent but also to the global community.
٥٢ - وأردف قائلا إن سري لانكا مغتبطة اغتباط جميع الدول اﻷعضاء اﻷخرى لما تمخضت عنه اﻷحداث فبي جنوب افريقيا التي أخذت المكان اللائق بها بين أعضاء المجتمع الدولي المتجامل والتي ستقدم مساهمة حيوية لا في مستقبل القارة الافريقية فحسب، بل في المجتمع العالمي أيضا.

Sri Lanka was committed to protecting the rights of all its people and enabling them to realize their dreams, and it stood ready to join other Member States in improving the rule of law at the national and international levels under the umbrella of the United Nations.
واختتم كلامه قائلا إن سري لانكا ملتزمة بحماية حقوق جميع أبنائها وتمكينهم من تحقيق أحلامهم، وإنها على استعداد للانضمام إلى الدول الأعضاء الأخرى في تعزيز سيادة القانون على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي تحت مظلة الأمم المتحدة.

43. Sri Lanka reiterated the importance of public-private partnerships for the work of the Commission and the potential of the UNCITRAL texts to advance the goals of the Global Compact.
43 - واستطرد قائلا إن سري لانكا تؤكد من جديد أهمية الشراكة بين القطاعين العام والخاص بالنسبة لعمل اللجنة وإمكانية الاستفادة من نصوص الأونسيترال في تحقيق أهداف الشراكة العالمية.

46. Sri Lanka strongly believed that international action to enforce human rights should be even-handed; human rights should never be used as a pretext by powerful States to bully weaker ones for political reasons.
٦٤ - وأضاف قائلا إن سري لانكا تؤمن إيمانا راسخا بأن العمل الدولي الرامي إلى تعزيز حقوق اﻹنسان ينبغي أن يتسم باﻹنصاف، فلا ينبغي أبدا أن تُستخدم حقوق اﻹنسان كذريعة من جانب الدول القوية للبطش بالدول اﻷضعف ﻷسباب سياسية.

28. Sri Lanka believed that further time was needed, both for countries within the region, and for countries outside the region, to consider the feasibility of the various approaches set forth in the Committee's 1993 and 1994 reports.
٨٢ - وأضاف قائلا إن سري لانكا ترى أن بلدان المنطقة، وكذلك البلدان الواقعة خارج حدودها، بحاجة إلى فترة إضافية من الوقت للنظر في مسألة إمكانية تطبيق النهج الجديدة المذكورة في تقريري اللجنة لعامي ٣٩٩١ و ٤٩٩١.
