While our current focus remains on Iraq and a few other high-profile cases, the reports submitted by the Secretary-General under sub-items (a) to (e) of agenda item 40 remind us that a much larger part of humankind requires continued assistance.

2. Pursuant to this request, and as a follow-up to the reports submitted by the Secretary-General in 2002 and 2003 (A/57/262 and A/58/152), the present report covers proposals and preparations for the tenth anniversary of the resumed fiftieth session of the General Assembly.

14. At the same meeting, the Committee had before it two statements of programme budget implications of revised draft resolution A/C.3/59/L.29/Rev.1, submitted by the Secretary-General in accordance with rule 153 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly (A/C.3/59/L.82 and Add.1).
