The Committee commends the State party for its delegation, which was headed by the Vice-Minister of Human Rights and Access to Justice, José Avila Herrera, and included representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and the Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

During the fifty-third session, the Chair of the Working Group on Communications and other Committee members discussed follow-up matters with representatives of the Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations Office at Geneva, including measures taken by the State party to give effect to the Committee's views on communication No. 22/2009.

1. The Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations Office in New York informed the Secretary-General on 21 December 2000 that the Government of Peru had decided to withdraw the candidature of Mr. William Toro Cabrera to the Committee on the Rights of the Child (see document CRC/C/SP/29).
