Ms. Schmidt (Switzerland) said that her delegation hoped that the recent establishment of the commission of inquiry on human rights in Eritrea would lead to an improvement in that situation, which remained of great concern despite the country's international obligations to protect human rights and repeated appeals by the international community to that end.
