It was requested to take a stronger role in the development of organic agriculture, in collaboration with national programmes and other partners, such as the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements.

In this context, several delegates welcomed the joint initiative by the UNCTAD/FAO/IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) secretariat to create the Task Force on Harmonization and Equivalence in Organic Agriculture.
