وتحث الدول اﻷطراف الدول الحائزة لﻷسلحة النووية على أن تدأب في بذل جهود منتظمة وتدريجية لخفض اﻷسلحة النووية عالميا، بهدف إزالة تلك اﻷسلحة نهائيا، وأن تدأب جميع الدول في متابعة نزع السلاح العام الكامل في ظل رقابة دولية صارمة وفعالة.

Members may recall that that goal was affirmed by the 1995 Review and Extension Conference of the NPT, which called for systematic and progressive efforts to reduce nuclear weapons globally, with the ultimate goal of their eventual elimination.
ولعل اﻷعضاء يتذكرون أن ذلك الهدف أكد عليه مؤتمر عام ١٩٩٥ لﻷطراف فـــــي معاهدة عدم انتشار اﻷسلحة النووية لاستعراض المعاهدة وتمديدها الذي طالب ببــذل جهود منظمة ومتدرجة لخفض اﻷسلحة النووية على الصعيد العالمي، وأن يكون الهدف النهائي إزالتها في نهاية المطاف.
