1. The Economic and Social Council has received requests from a number of non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Council to be heard by the Council at its substantive session of 2007.

27. At its 12th meeting, on 30 June, the Council, upon the recommendation of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, approved the requests made by non-governmental organizations (see E/2008/82) to be heard by the Council at its substantive session of 2008 under agenda item 2.
