The SBI thanked those Parties included in Annex II to the Convention (Annex II Parties) and other Annex I Parties and multilateral programmes and organizations that had made financial contributions towards the implementation of the work of the CGE.

The SBI expressed its appreciation to those Parties included in Annex II to the Convention that provided additional funds for participation of experts from non-Annex I Parties in in-depth reviews of third national communications and invited other Parties included in Annex II to the Convention to continue this practice;

In order to meet the commitments under Articles 4.1, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.8 and 4.9, Parties included in Annex II to the Convention and other Annex I Parties that are in a position to do so should provide funding for developing country Parties, through the following channels:

Article 4 of the Convention covers the assistance that Parties included in Annex II to the Convention (Annex II Parties) should provide for completing activities reported in national communications and to countries particularly vulnerable to climate change.

Financial resources for enhanced action on capacity-building should be provided by Parties included in Annex II to the UNFCCC Convention and other Parties in a position to do so through current and future operating entities of the financial mechanism, as well as through bilateral, regional and other multilateral channels (decision 1/CP.16, para. 131).
